Architectural Review Board (ARB) meetings are held on the second Monday each month at 7:00 pm, pending the need to meet. The ARB does not do building inspection, only architectural review and zoning compliance. All Village residents are welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.

A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held June 9, 2014 at 5830 Falmouth Ct. Members present were Michael Jones (Planning Commissioner), Jo Ann Bierman, Robert Davis, and Bryce Jacob. Also present were Diane & Duncan Aukland, Neil & Christine Mortine, and Edward Miller. Joshua C. Mehling served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.
The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of May 12, 2014 were not read since each member had received a copy. Noonan moved and Davis seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 5, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, Jones, and Noonan: Nay; None. The motion carried 5-0.
An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Christine & Neil Mortine at 289 West Riverglen Drive to remove an existing sunroom in the rear of the home and replace it with a new sunroom. The new sunroom will be the same width as that of the current one, with an additional one to four inches of depth. The new room will have a gable roof to match that of the rest of the house, with vinyl siding and trim that will match as well. The current sunroom is 20 years old and has sunk slightly over the years, leading to water infiltration. The proposed changes are within the acceptable lot coverage. . Bierman moved and Davis seconded the motion to approve the application for a certificate of appropriateness as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0. A street bond of $2,000 will be required.
An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Duncan and Diane Aukland at 5789 Crescent Court to add a privacy fence to the side yard. The fence had previously been installed, as the Auklands stated that they were told by someone with the village that a certificate of appropriateness was not needed. Diane distributed photos of the fence to the members of the Planning Commission. The fence is made of white vinyl and matches the trim of the house. The height of the fence is six feet and comes within six inches of the existing chain link fence that goes around the rest of the yard. Davis questioned whether there were any restrictions to fence height in the ordinances. The Planning Commissioner stated that the limit was six feet and that ordinance requires fences that are six feet to be approved by the Planning Commission or the owners must submit letters of approval from the neighbor if the fence is within 20 feet of their property. Jacob moved and Davis seconded the motion to approve the certificate of appropriateness as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4, Bierman, Davis, Jones, and Jacob: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0.
The Commission took no additional action. Bierman moved and Davis seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:27 pm.
