Council notes

  • Lieutenant Jennifer Wuertz now directs patrol operations in the Village. A recent home burglary and vandalized car occurred on Olentangy Blvd. Check and lock your doors and windows and remove valuables from cars.
  • The August Quarterly Newsletter [pdf] was mailed to all residents. Chris Coe (Salvato + Coe Group) created the design at no charge and printing at no charge was done by Harman Midwest Printing who also distributed it.
  • Resolution 2013-11 to Award the Contract for the 2013 Villagewide Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project was adopted. Only one bid was received (Performance Pipelining, Inc.) Next step: put the contract together and obtain the Notice to Proceed from OPWC.
  • The current Clerk-Treasurer will retire at the end of January 2014. Council will keep the position as an elected one and a resident is interested in the position. Council can appoint the resident to fill the remainder of the term and then decide if any changes are needed.
  • Codification to incorporate the changes the Committee on Ordinances made would be approximately $3,500. Since the code has not been updated for the last three years, Council decided to proceed. Some issues remain and Council wants to get feedback from residents before passing legislation to make these changes.
  • Infrastructure Committee members investigating bonds for financing the infrastructure work have found that the total amount the two banks they met with are willing to underwrite, approximately $2 million, is well below what is needed. The Village will have to look at other sources for financing.

November 5, 2013 election of Council members

The Franklin County Board of Elections has certified two write-in candidates for the general election: Michael D. Blanchard, 5803 Dover Court, and Jeff Colwell, 5814 Westchester Court. Four Council terms expire December 31, 2013; two positions will be unfilled on January 1, 2014. Solicitor is checking into the process of filling vacant Council positions. To vote in the November election, you must be registered with the Franklin County Board of Elections by October 7. Council member Don Griffith resigned in September since he is moving. Council has discussed the need to find someone to fill Griffith's term until the end of this year

Storm Sewer Survey

The storm sewer system surveying will begin shortly. Most of the work will be in or near the street. However, there are a few places where workers will walk between lots to access the outfalls. This is in addition to the sanitary sewer project, which will also begin in September. We will try to have updated information on the Village's website
