Public Forum

To gather public input to the proposed changes to the Village Building Regulations and Zoning Code, Thomas Worthington High School Library, (300 W. Granville Road), Worthington, Ohio, 7:00 pm, Monday, October 21, 2013.

Over the past two years, a group of Riverlea residents volunteered to assist in reviewing Riverlea’s ordinances. The goal was to recommend changes to Council to ensure the ordinances were up-to-date and user-friendly.

The group focused on Title XV: Land Use, which includes building regulations, zoning codes and signage. During the process, we tackled some controversial issues, which led to spirited debate. But in the end, the group presented strong recommendations to the Council for amendments to the code. To highlight some of the changes:

Ordinance Committee

Chair: Jenny D. Jones, Council member
Committee members: Pam Colwell, Scott Gordon, Mike Jones, Carolee Noonan, and Jacalyn Slemmer.

We encourage you to attend the Public Forum October 21, 2013 and share your thoughts.

Good to know

  • Landscaping bids for 2014 will be accepted. The current provider is merging with another company and a new contact is needed. Other companies have expressed an interest in bidding for maintenance of the green spaces. Council wants to see proposals from other companies.
  • Delaware County Bank is offering a money market account that pays 0.35%, which is a little higher than current accounts. Council agreed to open an account there as long as it met with the Village’s investment policy.
  • Council discussed fees for a Certificate of Appropriateness, street bonds and the need to have performance bonds. Council would like to add a performance bond to construction projects to make sure they are completed as approved. There will be no change to the fees or street bonds.
