WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Riverlea deems it necessary to provide for police protection for the Village and to provide compensation for such protection; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Riverlea is located adjacent to the City of Worthington, Ohio, and the Council of the Village of Riverlea has determined to contract with the City of Worthington and the Worthington Police Department to provide such police service and protection for the safety of Village residents and property and to provide compensation for such protection;
WHEREAS, the City of Worthington has proposed and presented to the Mayor of the Village a contract that provided for a one-year term at an annual amount that does not exceed $67,240, plus an additional contingent fee for investigative services that shall not exceed $15,000, and the Council of the Village of Riverlea desires to ratify and accept such contract for such term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF RIVERLEA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. AUTHORIZATION. That the Mayor or, in his absence from the Village, the president pro tempore of Council, each be and is hereby authorized and directed on behalf of the Village of Riverlea to enter into an appropriate agreement with the City of Worthington, Ohio, and/or the Worthington Police Department, for the provision of police protection within the Village of Riverlea for the period from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015 for an annual amount not to exceed $ 67,240, plus an additional contingent fee for investigative services that shall not exceed $ 15,000, and substantially in the form of the Contract currently existing between the Village and City, with such minor changes thereto as may be approved by the person executing the same on behalf of the Village.
Section 2. OPEN MEETINGS. This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with law.
Section 3. PUBLICATION. That pursuant to the provisions of Section 731.25, Ohio Revised Code, the Council of the Village of Riverlea hereby determines that publication of this Resolution in a newspaper is unnecessary and does hereby determine that this Resolution shall be published by posting copies thereof in the five following places which are determined to be the five most public places in the Village of Riverlea, Ohio:
Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. Copies of this Resolution shall be posted continuously in the above-mentioned places for a period of fifteen (15) days and at the expiration thereof this Resolution shall become effective.Passed this 20h day of November 2014.
